U12 Scorpions - Brrrrrracknell Injustice
Bracknell Town Juniors Pumas
6-3

An early kick off on a cold and blustery day in Bracknell wasn’t the ideal setting for the Scorpions trip to the league leaders. The surface of the ‘pitch’ should have been prepared for 22 players raring to play this game but it was more suitable for a heard of cows.

Having surveyed the scene the Scorpions focused on the task and started well from the off, stifling Bracknells’ passing play and pushing hard to create their own chances. The Scorpions broke the deadlock with a trade mark strike by Harry from outside the box, lobbing the keeper who could only stand and watch.

Bracknell responded with the next attack and with the Scorpions guard down, levelled the score.

After half time the Scorpions raised their game further and took the game to Bracknell. The hard work resulted in a goal for Josh who chipped the keeper from just inside the box (1-2). Bracknell fought back and were rewarded with a goal from a well executed set piece from a corner kick (2-2). With their tails up Bracknell kept applying the pressure and threaded balls through for their fast forwards to run onto. One of these runs resulted in the referee (Bracknells’ Manager) awarding a penalty that was so far out of the box even a blind man could have seen that it wasn’t, changed the game for the Scorpions. Their disbelief from this injustice resulted in a loss of concentration from all of the players and Bracknell capatilised with 3 further soft goals to take the score to 6-2.

The Scorpions managed to salvage a little pride before the end of the game with a goal from Harry who glided a free kick from outside the box just under the cross bar 6-3.

All in all a good performance from all of the Scorpion players against a team of determined and hard working players. Lets take this attitude into the next game against Whitegrove Rockets.

Man of the match: Harry

U12 Scorpions - 9 to 5
FC Holyport
5-2

With FC Holyport only able to field 9 players, the Scorpions decided to make a fair game of it and field 9 of their own.

With the new team configuration, it took a while for the Scorpions to get into their stride. FC Holyport on the other hand were straight into the match closing down the home team and passing to good effect. But the Scorpions worked themselves into the game and Josh DeSousa scored the first goal mid way through the half. FC Holyport responded quickly with a goal of their own after a good passing movement. The Scorpions pressed hard and were rewarded with their second goal from the foot of Harry with a trade mark "stinger" shot from outside of the area. The elation was short lived as poor marking allowed the away team to score the equaliser (2-2).

The home team rallied once more and scored two more goals before half time from the dazzling feet of Josh DeSousa.

The second half was a rotation of substitutes for the Scorpions, allowing all players to apply more pressure on the Holyport defence. They were resolute to the end and the defence only allowed the home team one more goal before the end of the game. Good inter play from the midfield players resulted in a great shot which could only be parried by the keeper, who could then only watch as Ross expertly place the ball into the net.

Another win for the Scorpions which was not a 9 (players) to 5 (goals) performance.

Scorpions Stinging Six !
Laurel Park Hurricanes
6-1

A great all round performance from every player resulted in a 6 - 1 win for the Scorpions.

High Scorpion pressure from the kick off resulted in numerous attempts at the Hurricanes goal. But it took until mid-way through the half before the Scorpions scored their first goal. A lapse of concentration allowed the Hurricanes to get back into the game with an equiliser before half time.

After a much needed re-charge of batteries at half time, the Scorpions came out and took the game to the Hurricanes, scoring 5 goals in a very one sided half. The 11 Hurricane players simply just ran out of puff and couldn't cope with the Scorpion whirlwind.

Second-Half Fire too late for Dragons
Walton Casuals
3-5

Yateley Dragons finished what might be their last game as an 11-a-side team with passion and skill to claw back some goals after a disappointing first half.

Yateley did not seem to be playing for each other at first, and sat back, quickly falling to a 0-3 deficit. They grabbed a goal back, but Walton scored again to make it 1-4 at half time.

A stirring team talk at half time lifted the boys spirits, and they came back out determined to play better. Their attitude paid off and they were soon only a goal behind with the score at 3-4. Walton, however, were always a threat and managed to get another goal.

Yateley kept trying until the end, and can be very proud of their second-half performance.
